Experience Antigua: My Stay at The Verandah Resort and Spa | Sydney Nieveen, Sojourney Travel
My name is Sydney Nieveen, and I specialize in turning Caribbean and Mexico vacations into reality! We recently stayed 6 nights at The Verandah Antigua Resort & Spa which is a 4-star property located on the Eastern coast of the Caribbean Island, Antigua. With several airports on the East coast offering direct flights to Antigua, this can be a unique island to check off your list while staying at a great all-inclusive resort!
The Verandah is a reasonably priced resort that is great for couples, and families with 16+ year old children. If you’re looking for a relatively low-key, laid-back resort with some luxury options, you could easily spend a week at this resort and not get tired of it.
Check – In
Upon arrival to the resort, we were promptly greeted with a welcome drink and cool towel to begin the check-in process which was quick and easy. The open-air lobby provided a warm, Caribbean welcoming to our home for the next 6 days.
Accommodations
There area variety of rooms to choose from here, but I highly recommend a waterfront villa, as you will have a view of the amazing blue waters. You won’t regret waking up every morning in your king bed facing the ocean. The biggest highlight of the room is the MASSIVE balcony that you can spend time on watching the boats go by or waiting out a quick rainfall.
Dining/Bars
6 dining options will be sure to keep your bellies full and satisfied. (I highly recommend the made-to-order pizza at Papa Ricco’s!) You will want to book dinner reservations when you arrive to ensure you’re able to enjoy the other restaurants as well. 5 bars are scattered around the resort, with a cold drink always close by. The coffee shop was a hit with everyone here, as they have tons of different drink options along with quick service snacks.
Pool and Beach
Three main pools will provide you with different experiences, if you want a quiet pool or a livelier pool, they have both. We found the Rasta beach pool to be a hidden gem, and always uncrowded just steps from the beach. There are two different beaches on the resort where you can either relax with a rum punch or use the complimentary watersports including kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear or the Hobie cat sailboats.
Service
The staff here works hard and is always willing to go above and beyond for you, whether that means customizing your pizza or picking you up in a golf cart from your room so you don’t have to walk to dinner. One of the few drawbacks of this resort is that it’s not great for those with mobility issues. The villas are built on hills (which is what gives you the amazing ocean views) but is not the best for those who need extra assistance with walking.
Overall, The Verandah is a great choice for many and is a more reasonably priced resort compared to many other high-end resorts on Antigua. If you are looking for the ultimate relaxation vacation with some of the best ocean views, then look no further.
