First Look at Universal Orlando's EPIC Universe: A Galactic Adventure Awaits!

A VIP Preview Experience Like No Other:  On May 18, 2025, I had the extraordinary opportunity to preview Universal Orlando's newest theme park: EPIC Universe. While the grand opening wasn't until May 22, 2025, this sneak peek allowed me to explore the innovative worlds, exhilarating rides, and immersive experiences before the public rush. My stay at the newly opened Universal's Stella Nova Resort only added to the excitement. 

Where I Stayed: Universal's Stella Nova Resort:  Open since January 2025, Stella Nova Resort is a stellar experience in itself. Inspired by the mysteries of the cosmos, this hotel truly feels out of this world. Located just a 10-minute walk or a complimentary shuttle ride from EPIC Universe, the convenience is unmatched. I stayed in room 8080, where I had a stunning view of the park that only built anticipation for the day ahead. 

Start Your Day Early—And Smart: One major perk of staying at a Universal property is Early Park Admission. We left the resort at 7:20 AM and by 7:50 AM, we were through security and heading straight to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. Although it wasn't open for early entry, a line quickly formed for the 9:00 AM opening of "Battle at the Ministry." This ride is a must—visually stunning, rich in detail, and completely immersive. Make this your first stop of the day if you're hoping to ride without a long wait. 

Explore the Celestial Park Hub: At the center of EPIC Universe lies Celestial Park, a lush hub where all worlds connect. From here, you can grab a bite, rest in the shade, or hop on the jaw-dropping Stardust Racers. This dual-launch coaster races up to 62 mph and reaches heights of 133 feet. If you're not heading to Harry Potter World first, make this your go-to ride! 

Don't Miss: Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: Step into 1920s Paris and take the Métro-Floo to the 1990s British Ministry. This land features: 

1. ✨ New interactive wand experiences 

1. 🍽 Cafe L'air De La Sirène: Order the Poulet à la Provençale—a flavorful dish featuring herbs de Provence roasted chicken, perfectly crisped roasted potatoes, and tender haricot verts (green beans). Pair it with a refreshing Dirigible Plum Juice for a magical dining experience! 

1. 🎭 Tent of Le Cirque Arcanus: A breathtaking live show 

1. 🎫 Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique: The ultimate wand shopping experience 

1. 🍺 Don’t forget to grab a Butterbeer! This classic Wizarding World beverage is currently available in both cold and frozen varieties—perfect for a refreshing treat during a warm day of exploring magic. 

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: Step into the movie with incredible theming and music. Some highlights: 

1. 🍽 Spit Fyre Grill: Try Astrid's Shrimp Bowl—a mix of tropical bbq shrimp, sticky rice, charred broccolini, shaved Parmesan and a raspberry vinaigrette. For something with a kick, try the Dragon Fire Chicken Spire, creamy mac & cheese with Nashville-style pulled chicken, hot honey, Calabrian peppers, chimichurri and crispy onions served in a crunchy cone!

Venture into the Shadows: Dark Universe:  Home to Universal's iconic monsters, this land is intense and thrilling. Attractions include: 

1. ⚡ Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment (48" height requirement) — The ride is on the spookier side and may not be suitable for younger children or anyone who is easily startled. Expect sudden appearances by Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, werewolves, and more—some of whom leap out at you during the experience. The atmospheric build-up, dark corridors, and thrilling visuals make this a top-tier spooky ride! 

1. 👹 Meet & greets, makeup experiences, and Curse of the Werewolf ride (not running during preview) 

1. 🍬 De Lacey's Cottage: Warm Hearted Cinnamon Bites for a snack break 

Power Up in Super Nintendo World: From Mario Kart to Donkey Kong Country, this area is a gamer’s dream. Just be prepared—it’s HOT with limited shade. Don’t miss: 

1. 🎮 Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge 

1. ✨ Power-Up Bands ($45): Link to your app for interactive experiences. Once linked to the Universal Orlando Resort App, you can compete in interactive Key Challenges throughout the land. Each challenge tests your reflexes and timing, and when you collect enough digital keys, you’ll unlock access to Bowser Jr.'s Shadow Showdown—an epic, multi-sensory mini-game that brings the land to life in a whole new way. It’s fun for kids and adults alike, especially if you enjoy a bit of friendly competition! 

1. 🍦 The Bubbly Barrel: Cool down with a DK Crush Float—a frozen treat made with pineapple soda and banana pineapple soft serve, available with or without an Instagram-worthy Donkey Kong barrel-shaped cup. 

1. 🥘 Toadstool Cafe: Grab a Mario Burger, featuring a juicy beef patty topped with bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, thousand island dressing and American cheese.
