How to use Disney Genie+
Written By Dannielle Puckett, Travel Advisor | Disney Specialist
If you spent the extra money to purchase Disney Genie+, you will definitely want to be ready to take advantage of it. Let’s learn how!
Pro Tip: Practice this before your trip. You will not be able to actually make a Genie+ reservation until 7am on the day you visit the park, BUT you can go ahead and get familiar with how the app works.
1. Go to My Day to access the Genie Service
From your My Disney Experience app, tap on My Day. If you don’t see it on your home screen, you can always tap the menu on the bottom right (3 lines) and then choose My Genie Day from the new menu that pops up.
2. Choose Tip Board and select “Book Experience”
From the top of the My Genie Day screen, you can toggle between the Tip Board and My Day. You will want to choose Tip Board to see the available experiences.
From the Tip Board, you can scroll until you find an experience you would like to book. Take note of the return times. You should also glance at the current wait time so that you will not waste a reservation on an attraction that has a short wait.
If there is a price listed for a ride, that means that it is not included in Genie+. It is an Individual Attraction Selection. (There are one or two in every park.)
Pro Tip: Have your Top Picks show up at the top of the list by tapping “Edit Selections”. This can be really helpful. I change my throughout the day based upon what I am wanting to do next.
3. Review Details and Edit your party
The next screen lets you review the details of your selection. On this screen you can also view other plans you have during this time or “Edit” your selection to include or exclude members of your party.
Once you have confirmed that everything is to your liking, click continue.
PRO TIP: Be sure to check the time again on this page. Sometimes between Book Experience and Review Details, the time will CHANGE!
4. View your Confirmed Reservation
On the next screen, you will see that your reservation has been confirmed. You can click View My Day to see that your booking is now listed on the My Day screen.
5. View My Day
Now you will be back to the original screen you started on, and the toggle will be pre-selected as My Day. This is basically your itinerary for your day. You will see all your reservations here, including dining. You will also see recommendations from the Genie… that may or may not be what you are actually wishing for. 😉
